The Hadassah University Hospital is a world class medical research institution with a rich history of clinical excellence. Conducting a trial at the Hadassah Clinical Research Center (HCRC) affords the study sponsor the convenience of a package deal. The company has access to a dedicated, fully equipped pre-clinical unit on the premises and to a top rate clinical team, a large patient pool, and a GMP facility that not only provides the highest quality of production but is competitively priced in comparison to other GMP sites around the world.
Hadassah was home to over 200 clinical trials during 2007 and is set in a unique clinical arena of 2 academic hospitals with 1100 beds, and an annual turnover of 100,000 inpatients and 1,000,000 outpatient visits.
The Pre-Clinical and Clinical Unit
The HCRC will be a 15 bed unit located in the BioPark (see below) at the Ein Kerem campus of the Hadassah University Hospital. It will offer biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies a complete package of services and facilities for drug and device studies.
The HCRC is a joint venture of the Clinical Pharmacology Unit in the Division of Medicine and Hadasit, the technology transfer company of Hadassah University Hospitals. Prof. Yoseph Caraco, a clinical pharmacologist with a world-wide reputation in medical research leads a team consisting of an additional clinical pharmacologist, research dedicated nurses, study coordinators and a pharmacist, all trained to conduct research with the highest international standards. This is a crucial deliverable especially for Phase I and II safety studies. Hadassah is furthermore a major referral center. As such, it treats large populations of patients with a potpourri of conditions.
Also of significance, the IRB at Hadassah has rigorous standards. However, though the bar is set high, study sponsors will no longer have to battle bureaucracy. Hadasit will provide seamless contact between the companies and the IRB by providing such services as answering sponsor questions and tracking requests.
The HCRC is managed by the following professionals:
• HCRC Director, Professor Yoseph Caraco, M.D.
• Senior HCRC Physician, Mordechai Muszkat, M.D.
• Physician, Gili Erez, M.D.
• Physician, Hanan Shaoul, M.D.
• HCRC Research Nurse, Ms. Yochi Ben-David. RN, M.A., CCRC
• HCRC Pharmacist, Simha Blotnick, Ph.D.
• HCRC Marketing Manager, Clinical Trials, Ms. Liron Drezner, M.Sc.
• HCRC Administrator, Ms. Ilanit Linzer, M.Sc.
Hadassah’s GMP Facility
The CRC is supported by a full service GMP facility located on the premises of Hadasah Medical Center. The GMP team, supervised by Linda Rasooly, Ph.D., can accommodate the protocol requests of any Phase I or Phase II study. In addition, the team is willing to draft GMP protocols for a requesting study sponsor, whose personnel it will also train to participate in the lab process.

BioPark
The BioPark will be Israel's first medical research-oriented technology park. Companies at the BioPark will benefit from close vicinity to the rich infrastructure of Ein Kerem's medical campus, comprising the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s schools of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and public health, and the Hadassah University Hospital. Hadassah conducts more than half of the hospital research in Israel while The Hebrew University of Jerusalem conducts more than one-third of Israel’s scientific research, including more than 40% of the biotechnology research in Israel.
